Where you apply in Florida
Florida uses the federal Marketplace, so the official application is made at HealthCare.gov. You can do it yourself or with a certified agent who supports you in Spanish; the plan price is the same either way.
Step by step
- Gather your information: ZIP code, each person's age and estimated household income.
- Create your account and complete the application with the information of everyone seeking coverage.
- Check whether you qualify for help with the cost of the premium. The Marketplace confirms eligibility when it evaluates your application.
- Compare the plans available in your county: premium, deductible, copays, medical network and covered medications.
- Choose your plan and confirm your enrollment. Your coverage starts once the start-date and first-payment requirements are met.
When can you enroll?
Normally during the Open Enrollment period. Outside those dates you need a Special Enrollment Period due to a qualifying life event, such as losing other coverage or moving to a new ZIP code.

- Plans and premiums change by county: Miami-Dade, Orange, Hillsborough and others may have different options.
- Check that your nearby doctors and hospitals are in the network before choosing.
- If your income varies during the year, update your estimate in the Marketplace.
